About Us

Hey there! We’re Emily and Elisabeth, a mother-daughter duo passionate about transforming spaces and helping people create a meaningful life by turning their house into a home.

Upstate Vintage Living began as a creative outlet inspired by our family’s unique design style and love for antique shopping, rehabbing old homes, and decorating on a budget. For over four generations, our family has been dedicated to transforming trash into treasures—whether it’s through auctions, flea markets, or restoring forgotten spaces. Each generation added its own flair, blending a mix of traditional, eclectic, bohemian, modern farmhouse, shabby chic, coastal, industrial, French country, and Asian zen styles to create one-of-a-kind spaces.

We believe that everyone should love where they live, no matter their budget. As a lower/middle-income family, we’ve learned to craft beautiful spaces using creativity, resourcefulness, and a passion for “Decorating on a Dime.” It’s not about spending big; it’s about making your home a reflection of who you are, with thoughtful, affordable touches that bring joy.

What started as a hobby—organizing pantries, redesigning living rooms, and helping friends and neighbors with their spaces—soon became something much more. Our work received attention from the community, and we kept hearing the same question: “Why don’t you do this professionally?” So, here we are! The Upstate Vintage Blog is evolving, and we’re taking the next step by launching our business as decorators, stagers, and organizers.

Whether you’re looking to revamp a room, stage your home for sale, or organize your cluttered spaces, we’re here to help you create a space you’ll truly love—on a budget that works for you.

Join us on our journey as we continue to share design tips, DIY projects, and inspiration from our latest projects. Let’s make your home uniquely yours!

Emily

Emily grew up in Hoosick Falls, NY, where her family’s love for collecting antiques sparked her lifelong passion for vintage décor and design. After earning her B.S. in Accounting from Russell Sage College, she moved around the Northeast, from Central Pennsylvania to Boston, before settling in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, where she purchased her first home with her husband, Rick. In 2015, she relocated back to New York. With over 30 years of experience in accounting, Emily has seamlessly balanced her career with her love for organizing and decorating. For years, she’s been helping friends and neighbors create beautiful, functional spaces, combining her knack for budget-friendly design with her unique flair.

Elisabeth

Elisabeth was raised in the scenic Northeast Kingdom of Vermont before moving to New York, where she earned her B.S. in Digital Forensics, an MBA, and a Ph.D. in Information Science from the University at Albany. Although her academic pursuits have led her into the world of cybersecurity, Elisabeth’s heart has always been with antiquing, decorating, organizing, and writing. She inherited her mother’s love for antiques and interior design, and together, they’ve transformed that passion into a business. Whether she’s revamping a space, hunting for unique finds, or organizing, Elisabeth is excited to bring creativity and warmth to every project.
